Dublin court has recently decided in favor of a woman who accused Conor McGregor rape case and assault in the year 2018. Nikita Hand received €250,000 ($ 257,000) in an out-of-court settlement with McGregor when a civil court jury ruled McGregor guilty of assault.
Hand alleged that McGregor violently raped and assaulted her at an Irish hotel penthouse yard after the two had gone for a party. She said she sustained serious bruising and post-traumatic stress disorder after the incident.
McGregor refuted the allegations, saying that the meeting was conducted with the woman’s consent. Earlier, his lawyer had called Hand a ‘gold digger’ to the press.
The jury, which included eight women and four men, took six hours to decide. McGregor looked defeated when the verdict was read, and after the decision was made, the retired Conor tweeted that he would appeal the judgment and the “paltry sum.”
The woman, Nikita Hand, who accused Conor McGregor of rape and assault, also came out to read her statement outside the courthouse once the verdict was made. She choked with emotion and made an impassionate appeal of gratitude to her family, her partner, and her supporter’s fortitude and bravery. Hand thanked her daughter, who ultimately aroused her desire for justice.
She said she wants to do it to demonstrate that women can fight for themselves and seek justice irrespective of the attacker. Hand’s attorney had called McGregor a “devious coward” in his presence during the trial, while Hand had narrated a horrific experience with McGregor, including the threats and the chokehold.
In his cross-examining, McGregor admitted to having consensual, athletic intercourse with the alleged rape victim, identified as Nikita Hand. He said Hand never said “no” or stopped and that the accusations were fabricated, which are, in his words, full-blown lies.
McGregor’s lawyer asked the jurors to leave their feelings toward the fighter out of the courtroom during the trial. In the surveillance video, Hand was seen kissing McGregor’s arm and hugging McDonaugh before leaving the hotel room, and the guard said that she looked happy there.
