Penn State Completes A Reverse Sweep and Wins Set 5

Huskers were trailing at the score of 12-8 in the fifth because of two kills by Jess Mruzik followed by a block by former Husker, Caroline Jurevicius, and Nebraska native, Jordan Hopp. A kill from Merritt Beason and a block by Harper Murray and Andi Jackson brought the gap down to two for the Huskers.

Nebraska had flipped it to a two-point score until Camryn Hannah led the Husker block and gave the Nittany Lions a victory.

There were a total of 20 kills for Jurevicius, while Jess Mruzik from Penn State ranked first in total kills with 26.

Another 20 kills produced 15 additional digs in a double-double for the Huskers courtesy of Murray.

Andi Jackson was able to deliver 19 killing spikes while Rebekah Allick ended the match with 10 blocks.

Lexi Rodriguez, a senior libero, becomes the all-time digs leader for Nebraska as she breaks Justine Wong-Orantes’ record.

Rodriguez broke the previous record with her ninth dig at 1,890 and ended with 15 total.

Nebraska had led 12-7 in the opening set before the Nittany Lions tied it 13-13 after springing ahead.

The set included ten ties in total but fell to Nebraska by 25-23, courtesy of Jackson’s two quick kills.

Nebraska would score four straight points to tie it at 4-3 when Penn State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second set.

An Izzy Starck kill helped close the gap to 8-7, but NU ran off and finished the set at 25-18.

In the third, Nebraska overcame an early 5-0 deficiency to subsequently narrow the score to 15-11, then to 24-23 before Penn State completed the frame with an attacking error by Murray.

The Huskers were the first to reach 20 points in the fourth set, but the Nittany Lions made their comeback and took the match 28-26 after surviving two match points.
