This Netflix series weaves a murder mystery and will leave the audience amazed with its shocking end. It is perfectly packed with twists and turns, which imparts a mysterious element to the series.
The Perfect Couple is a fun and light-hearted web series that has yet to try to be quite serious. The story takes place in Nantucket, where a wealthy family prepares for a wedding. However, the murder gets derailed by a murder and the plot revolves around this murder mystery where everyone becomes a prime suspect.
The series starts on a note where Amelia Sacks (the character played by Eve Hewson), a zoologist, is getting married to Benji, one of the three sons of the rich and well-known Winbury family of Nantucket. However, there is a clear difference between the status of the two families.
Benji’s parents, Tag and Greer are quite rich, which is quite in contrast with the family status of Eve. Eve’s parents are down-to-earth and humble and come from a typical mediocre family. However, Eve is not quite bothered about this difference or about fitting in with Benji’s family. The lavish wedding gets spoilt because of a murder mystery when a body gets discovered a few hours before the ceremony.
Thus, the series tells a compelling story with a balanced tone. It combines dark moments, melodrama, and humor. It is satirical of wealthy people and points out how selfish, privileged people can behave at times. Overall, this series is entertaining and engaging.
All six episodes of this series are directed by the Emmy and Oscar-winning director Susanne Bier. The Perfect Couple cast is stunning, and it has been successful in translating the beach feel of the novel to the screen. However, the epilogue seems to be cheesy, and some more interesting themes and characters could have been excavated.
