There’s a piece of exciting news for Disney enthusiasts. Anne Hathaway confirms return for ‘Princess Diaries 3’.
It’s been a two-decade wait for fans of the Princess Diaries franchise, and now, Anne Hathaway has confirmed a third film is officially in its phase of being created at Disney.
The US actress, 41, began her stellar Hollywood career when the original movie debuted in 2001, in which she played San Francisco teen Mia Thermopolis, a normal girl who suddenly discovers that she is the heir to Genovia, a small European country.
Julie Andrews plays the role of her estranged grandmother, Genovian Queen Clarisse. The cast also had Mandy Moore, Heather Matarazzo, and Hector Elizondo in crucial roles.
Hathaway was last seen on Prime Video “The Idea of You (2024)” as Soléne Marchand, opposite Nicholas Galitzine. It’s a romantic comedy based on the book by Robinne Lee. Before that, Hathaway was seen in Mother’s Instinct (2024) as Céline, She Came to Me (2023) as Patricia Jessup Lauddem, and Eileen (2023) as Rebecca.
Hathaway is also set to come back for another successful sequel, The Devil Wars Prada (2006). Later in July, it was revealed the sequel, which would be scripted by the original writer, Aline Brosh McKenna, is to be made.
Princess Diaries 3 will be produced by Debra Martin Chase. Among those EPs are Naia Cucukov and Melissa Stack. The screenplay is being written by Flora Greeson.
In 2001, a very successful film, the first Princess Diaries, came out. Hathaway was in her budding career then and in full swing she played the role of a teen Princess Mia Thermopolis. In The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Hathaway started to hit it big after she appeared in the film adaptation of Ella Enchanted in 2004.
